Restoration 5. Salvador Ibanez (around 1900) Ladies Model

The way it was presented in the auction House.
The tuners were in a terrible scondition but I
succeeded in saving them and added 3 newly
made knobs.

The head with its' inlays deserved a treatment as well.
Dirt and even some paint rests were still there. A few
fresh layers of lacquer will do the job.

The knobs are pinned on the outer ends while
the axe holders are riveted the way it still has
been done on higher end guitars.

After cleaning even the copper mounting plate
appeared to have some engravings.

The "treated" side. Still good functioning again.

Before the period 1910 - 1920 the worm wheel has
been placed after the worm. Still the knobs work
in a similar way to the nowadays mountings.

Most of the time I take these pictures to show the
amount of fret wear. Refretting guitars like the isn't
that big a problem but in this guitar the original frets
are still there which might appeal to collectors.
Moreover the guitar still plays well with these
older frets. A new top nut was added.
